I. On-call Clerical Staff

University departments can obtain on-call clerical staff through Office Services. On-call staff can be used during leaves of absence, vacations, sickness, work overloads, and to fill vacant positions on a temporary basis.  Departments need to provide a university account number for billing purposes. On-call staffing services are charged on an hourly basis.

The request for on-call staff should be initiated by calling Office Services at least one week prior to the starting date of the assignment to insure an on-call employee is available for the assignment. The following information is needed:

Type of work to be performed

Starting date

Approximate ending date

Working hours

Name of supervisor

Phone number

Account number to be charged

Office Services will determine the rate for the service based on the type of work to be performed and will select an employee who best meets the required qualifications of the position. Certain types of work may require Office Services to contract with a temporary staffing agency.

Prior to offering any agency employee a full time job, contact Office Services to determine if a placement fee is due the agency.  These firms typically require a placement fee when one of its employees is hired for a full-time position.

II. Digital File and Tape Transcription Services

Digital file and audio tape transcription services are available to all departments with a university account number or on a cash basis. The fee for transcription services is determined on a per line charge.

Office Services transcribes information from digital files and audiocassettes.  Instructions on how to submit electronic files are available on the Office Services web site.  Examples of the type of work performed includes but is not limited to transcribing correspondence, speeches, outlines, interviews, journal articles, reports, notes, minutes of meetings, research papers and focus groups.
